Quick Way to Make a Numbered List

Sometimes you want a list of ordered numbers in your spreadsheet.
I often use to help keep the order of my rows, since sorting ascending or descending on the numbered list easily puts your spreadsheet back to it’s “default” order after having sorted it on another column.

Instead of typing in the numbers from 1 to 10, we can simply only input two numbers and let Calc do the rest!

Column A has sequential numbers starting from 1.

To get this result with minimal typing, all we need to do is first type in the first two numbers 1 and 2.

Then, all we need is to select both cells, click the lower right corner of the cell, and click and drag straight down and release your mouse.

Click and drag in action. My mouse pointer is near row 18 (not pictured).

Once you release your mouse, the numbers are populated for you. This will also work for even numbers, or odd numbers. Simply input the first two numbers in the sequence you want, and do the click & drag method!
This also works if you want to start the list with a higher value such as 100, instead of 1.
